Every semester I struggle to decide how many of my classes should be online. Why? Because in some ways they are more difficult and tedious than going to class on campus.
If you have this same issue here are some pros towards online classes:
If you work full time taking online classes may help you create your own schedule to follow.
Maybe a class you want to take is only offered online or the class you’re trying to sign up for is offered in a time you can not be on campus for.
If you like to travel during the summer, taking an online class or two is beneficial. (Be aware of time zones and due dates!)
Maybe you live far from your campus, and you’re tired of the commute.
Save money on gas.
You can work on your own pace to meet deadlines.
Assignments are usually due on the same days every week.
Some are easier in quizzes, assignments, and have less work load.
Some quizzes are open book.
Able to have more work hours at your job.
Cons:
There is a fee for taking an online class when you are enrolled as an on campus student.
Lectures might be omitted and switched off for reading on your own.
Some online classes require a lot of work.
If you are easily distracted Online Class really isn’t for you.
It is more difficult to make friends in class if there is no class. This means you can’t ask your classmates questions unless there is a group chat.
There is literally no excuse for you to miss an assignment/quiz/test.
You have to be on top of your work.
Personally, I like having to come to class on campus; It keeps me busy and out of bed. I also like having access to speaking to a professor in person rather than relying through emails. I normally do not take more than two online classes per semester because they sometimes come with a big workload and you really have to be organized and disciplined to be able to keep up with the course. But everyone is different
