Fresh Start (time management)

Happy New year! This is the start of a new semester and as the first school week comes to an end there are many things going through every student's mind right now like, schedules, daily routines, and concerns about classes.

After a long break I find it difficult and stressful to figure out how to start a semester. Like me, many students also have jobs... It is so important to find a schedule that works for you during this first week. Somethings that I find helpful is to call this first week off work to accommodate to your new classes (that is if your job is flexible with hours). This first week is very important. Make sure you can handle ALL of your classes and handle your job. Sometimes you may even consider dropping a class or switching professors.

Once you know your classes are fine CHECK THE SYLLABUS in EVERY class. Every single due date is on there!!!

Now it's time to start organizing yourself and the work load that these classes come with. Buying a planner, or adding due dates on your phone's calendar helps so much. I personally like having a planner because writing things down reminds me that I have something to refer to so, I write EVERY due date on my planner. For papers and tests I also write a reminder on the week before as a warning so I don't leave anything for the last minute. I can't stress enough how writing every due date has helped me manage my time. IT REALLY WORKS!

If you are part of a greek organization or any other clubs on campus add that calendar to your planner/notifications too!

I then am able to make my work schedule. Writing down your schedule is also helpful. By doing this I know I won't ever have to call off work because I planned ahead.

Make sure to give yourself some free time to be able to balance a social life and not be stuck between work and school only. Being able to go to the gym or go out with friends is a way to de stress and clear your mind.

Goodluck!!!!
